Four Affinity Groups for Grantmakers of Color

I came across this list of national grantmaker affinity groups in the latest edition of the Foundation Center’s Philanthropy Annual 2008 Review. There were four affinity groups specifically geared toward people of color buried in the 116 page report that I wanted to highlight for you. I hope they will be helpful to grantmakers of color looking for a network within the field of philanthropy.

Hi Rosetta, You may be interested in the Philanthropy Annual‘s articles on diversity in philanthropy. There is an overview of what happened in 2008 with respect to calls for increased diversity among U.S. foundations, from the make-up of their boards and staff to the beneficiaries of their grants (especially in California). And, the Foundation Center’s S.V.P. for Research, Larry McGill, contributed an article outlining the challenges and benefits of quantifying diversity in philanthropy and how the Center is currently tackling that important task.
