[...] I met Sam at the 2008 Nonprofit Congress after a speech I gave there. He came up to me with this ball of energy he seemed to be carrying around with him in his jacket pocket. We exchanged cards, and I started following his writing on his first blog, Deserted After Dark. Sam is a deep thinker on community issues, who has been shaking up the nonprofit world and is now running for office on the Phoenix city Council. Find out more about Sam by reading my 2009 interview with him here. [...]

Sam is a great asset to our community. I met him after reading his blog and have been fortunate to become friends with this "ball of energy" for over a year now. Sam's passion for his work is evedint in his every day life.
As I have said several time before, "this guy is going places, fast!"

Oh yeah, it really is cool to see the light in his eye when he speaks of Kim. :-)

Clearly, this young man loves his fiancee! I think it is so sad that people see relationships as an impediment to their careers. I love my work as many other nonprofit folks do. But it is my relationships with my husband, family, and friends that continue to teach me to love and laugh when work gets difficult. Your job won't love you when you're old and gray and need someone to look after you -- they will long have moved on to the next person who will move the cause on to greater heights.

Rosetta,
Thanks so much for interviewing Sam and sharing this info! Sam also approached me with the same ball of energy at the Nonprofit Congress and I was definitely impressed.

I look forward to seeing him take the rest of the nonprofit world by storm (clearly, he already has AZ's nonprofits well in hand).
