Rosetta:

I really like this post. It helped me to think about the nonprofit sector in a new way and to TAKE RESPONSIBILITY rather than play the blame game.

Thanks!

Rosetta,

I admire your openness and willingness to address the many issues within our sector so candidly. Thank you for putting out there something that has been the elephant in the room for far too long. When I received your update today, I received confirmation that others are feeling the same sheer frustration that I feel about our sector, and I truly believe our generation is not going to stand by and do things the way they have always been done.

We must start talking about our work and praising it for the impact it has. I am tired of being defensive of my decision to work in the nonprofit sector as if I am choosing a lesser path. The nonprofit sector, in my case working for social justice, is so vitally important to who I am and I deserve to be respected for it, compensated appropriately for the quality of work I do and others should aspire to do this work as well. It is time for us to stand up and respect ourselves, our sector and demand respect for our work as well.

Thank you for your leadership...and for forcing us all to face up to the issues we have has a sector...and for making us better at what we do.
