I’ve been playing around with a lot of different titles and labels over the past two years (!) that I’ve been working for myself. Here are just a few:
All of these titles are accurate in that they represent the work I’m getting paid for in any given moment.
But what do those job titles really mean? What do I really do? How do I really help? What do I strive for in each of those roles?
Here’s how they tend to show up for me, in parentheses. (Yes, I know that some of these are not actual words in the dictionary. Just roll with it.)
- Consultant (Problem Solver, Solution Implementer, Thing Doer)
- Speaker (Firestarter, Action Inspirer)
- Trainer (Enthusiastic Teacher)
- Coach (Powerful Question Asker)
- Author (Passionate Writer, Idea Cultivator)
As I evolve in my own personal development, I’m finding that I want to be known less for my “official” job titles and more for the actual value I bring to people and organizations.
And even more than that? For the way I show up in the world to share my gifts with others.
My real job title (today, anyway) is “Possibility Seer.”
What is your real job title?
